Advanced Practice Nursing and Governance, Coursework Example

In the advanced practice nursing role, there must be continuous opportunities for growth and expanded knowledge through resource allocation and promotion in different ways. Nurses in this capacity must be provided with tools and resources that will positively impact outcomes and improve the practice environment through change and progress at the advanced practice level. It is imperative to offer APNs training tools and educational resources that will improve their understanding of the comprehensive nature of the practice environment and how it impacts policies and decision-making practices (Reeves, 2014).

It is essential to establish a successful model of leadership in the advanced practice role in order to accomplish specific objectives and to facilitate the direction of the practice setting through excellence in this area (Metzger & Rivers, 2014). These factors have a significant impact on patient care outcomes and on creating an environment that embraces leaders who are also visionaries and who possess strong and unwavering perspectives regarding how the nursing environment should operate (O’Neill, 2013). In this context, advanced practice nurses are able to become members of organizations that promote professional development and that also demonstrate a high level commitment to excellence in all areas (O’Neill, 2013).

The tools that are acquired by advanced practice nurses also have an  impact on a global scale, particularly as nursing becomes increasingly relevant in many communities as a primary means of receiving care and treatment, particularly in areas where this group has advanced authority to prescribe and to make higher-level decisions on behalf of patients (Shamian & Ellen, 2013). These strategies will continue to facilitate the growth of the advanced practice environment and the creation of new objectives that embrace change and the acceptance of policies that positively impact patient care and wellbeing through advanced decision-making capacity (Shamian & Ellen, 2013).
