Bowls of Pearls

The Bowls of Pearls are two big bowls that are filled with rice (robert100photos, 2014). Porcelain’s origin is China, and conversely, rice is their staple food. Pearls are grains of rice. The Bowls of Pearls is a social practice as it showcases the Chinese collective culture as they all enjoy rice as part of their diet. The Bowl of Pearls seem to send a message to all the Chinese people encouraging them to embrace the things that bring them together, and in this case, rice.

The Study of Perspective

The Study of Perspective is Weiwei’s artwork which basically portrays an extended left arm with a raised middle finger to monuments, landmarks and institutions (Publicdelivery.org., 2021). The Study of Perspective is a social practice as it engages the Chinese people at large by condemning the violation of human rights, violence, and social injustices from the government. Through the artwork, the Chinese people will collectively have a conscious comprehension of what Weiwei is trying to communicate and condemn.
