Cardiovascular Effects of Intensive Lifestyle Intervention in Type 2 Diabetes, Coursework Example

The Look Ahead Research Group provides an overview of the overall approach to the community intervention program they wish to pursue. In line with this, the group has entitled the study noted herein as Cardiovascular Effects of Intensive Lifestyle Intervention in Type 2 Diabetes. It could be understood that the emergence of type 2 diabetes among specific members of the community impose a definite turn on how situations arise and develop especially among individuals experiencing overweight or issues of obesity (Look AHEAD Group, 132). In this study, the group tries to explore the reason behind such problem and accordingly provide resolutions to the emergence of the said matter.

To explore the situation, the study involved at least 16 study centers in the US where at least 5145 overweight patients [who were diagnosed with type 2 diabetes] have been included to participate in an intensive lifestyle intervention (Look AHEAD Group, 137). The intervention itself promoted weight loss among the participants through increasing physical activities. As a result, the research presented good fruitage from the process. The intervention group garnered higher rate of weight loss compared from the control group which intermittently improved the reduction of glycated hemoglobin among the patients [which naturally reduces the emergence of cardiovascular risks among the individuals included in the program (Look AHEAD Group, 141). Nevertheless, it has been noted that these results were not fully solid especially in insisting on the process by which patients are protected and are distinctively mandated to completely change their attitude towards food and exercise [which will be the primary source of competent adjustments in the lives of the people who are to be involved in community intervention programs applied in the society later on]. This study reveals that even though some changes were evidently helpful in assuming the course of improvement that the members of the society experiencing type 2 diabetes need to give specific attention to, there is still much work to be done to reach the primary goal of this specific approach to treating or at least managing the emergence of type 2 diabetes in a particular community.
