Cultural competency is an important aspect that warrants consideration when striving to reduce diabetes 2 among African American women. It is important for the health professionals to overlook some of the practices, assumptions, communication styles, biasness, and group norms among other perspectives in order to ensure successful implementation of the program (Rose, 2013, p.77).

It is noteworthy that this group lays much attributes to their culture. Therefore, one should strive to avoid any form of prejudice or stereotyping while implementing the program. The act of categorizing people due to their cultural differences will always hinder the efforts of reaching to the perceived achievement (Brannigan, 2009, p.120).

This group has faced a sense of denial from the Americans in the highest point. It is important to note that people with diabetes are normally unstable. Therefore, a little frustration due to their race or segregation will frustrate them. Hence, one should implement the program in a manner that it does not demean, or segregate the African American women. In order to reach out to the African American women in an effort to reduce type 2 diabetes, it is important for one to employ viable strategies that enhance the attainment of the project goals without intruding the cultural beliefs of the participants. One can hire the African American professionals to run the program in order to win the self-confidence of the participants (Hark et al, 2009, p.104). Therefore, in this project, sidelining stereotyping is the best cultural competency variable, that one can use, to achieve the anticipated target.
