Questions: 1. If your taking a test online does time factor play a role in how you respond? Did you feel rushed? My answer to this is no not if you know the answer but can you elaborate more in a few sentences.

Question 2. How would your reactions and responses in this assessment compare to a time-sensitive decision you would need to make in a real life crisis?

Question 3: Why is it important for nurse managers to have a clear understanding of nursing regulations?

1. If I am taking a test online, I do not feel rushed if I know the answers.  However, as with any timed test, I must  guage my time, be brief—but thorough–,and then elaborate if  necessary and if time permits.
2. My reactions and responses in this assessment would compare favourably with a time sensitive decision I would need to make in a real life crisis.  I would know how much time I had before I had to render my decision and what important—and even essential—information  I must gather during that time.  After that, I must weigh all this material in whatever time I have left and render my decision, trusting that it will be the right one.
3. It is essential that nurse managers have a clear understanding of nursing regulations because if they do not, they do not know if they are being observed.  In fact, the manager should make certain that (s)he and all the staff for which (s)he is responsible know the regulations so that they can abide by them.  Not knowing them and/or not abiding by them could occur lawsuits by patients, doctors, colleagues, nurses, and others.  Understanding the regulations helps everyone to know his or her rights, privileges, and obligations.  The regulations would help the manager with the hiring of the appropriate number of staff for the number and type of patients in her ward(s), which is very important to know when making out the yearly budget.  There can be problems with nurses being seen as not following doctors’ orders and, therefore, being subject to discipline.  Perhaps such a case might be true, but the reason(s) for it may, according to the nursing regulations, fall within the nurse’s scope to do so in certain emergency cases.  The manager has to also be conversant with how long nurses’ shifts may be, when they are entitled to time and a half or even double time and their sick leave and compassionate leave entitlements.
