Term Paper

The possible imbalances in my area involve landslides that are characterized by a downward movement of rocks, debris or earth in masses. The cause of landslides is disturbances to natural stability which occurs at the times of heavy rains, after a period of drought, volcanic eruption or earthquake. Water accumulates in grounds rapidly causing a surge. Landslides have been a cause of significant number of deaths (Abbott, 2009).

Preparation and prevention of such a calamity includes first learning of possible occurrences of the incident in the area. In case they do, then it is good to contact the local authorities concerning appropriate plans for its emergency and evacuation (Bailey et al 2010). Appropriate plans for emergency and evacuation should be put in place. It is also advisable to leave such areas and settle elsewhere.

Some weather incidents common in my region include earthquakes and they have been handled through preparation, practice as well as planning. Emergency supplies have been gathered in an attempt of reducing hazards associated with the incidences

Some prime natural disasters have occurred in the past including tornadoes. They are associated with hazards to people caused by winds and people may be struck by objects that fly and fall as a result of the wind. Tornadoes leave behind some wreckage and they may also cause further injuries

Massive rescue and recovery effort play vital role requiring that response to disaster is elevated to national levels. It is also important to consider assistance on individual level in which case families. Business owners and individual people are providing with assistance. Assistance should also be directed to the public at large considering private and public entities. Funding should also be given to Hazard Mitigation Assistance in order to reduce possible losses in the future.
