The company needs to provide a portable MRI services in order to beat the competition that other low priced companies are providing and be able to attract more managed care and Medicare patients in its opportunistic plan.

As an administrator, it is vital to take advantage of prevailing challenges in the company as opportunity to expand it operation network and provide affordable services to people. For instance, when there is shortage of employees, the company will have to restructure its plans. This can be done by creating new positions to be occupied by new staff with fresh ideas. The new staff will be motivated by increased wages than there opponents are offering. In addition, the administrator advocates for the need to develop the profession of surgery. This is done by creating real incentives in the company where new staff can be hired and trained at convenient time (Fay, 1999).

The administrator will be able to offer and share his knowledge with the company management therefore the administrator is able to understand the risks that the company is operating at. For example, the company is suffering a massive shortage of radiologists and technical staffs who can help improve the MRI services that the company is offering. As an opportunity the company will need to hire and train the staff at affordable rates that there opponents can not be to provide. To add on that, the crisis of competition will be curbed and company’s proficiency increased hence the firm is able to get more customers Brock, 1989).

In any company, there is the need to have an organizational structure to organize its activities and stipulate roles and jobs to its employers in order to meet its set goals. The above situation where the administrator is forced to utilize challenges into opportunities will require use of two types of organizational structures; matrix and strategic business unit structure. The orthopedic surgery practice will require the use of matrix structure. This organizational structure will call for unifying two structures to enhance its efficiency (Ramanadhan, 1986).

The company focuses mainly on project oriented programs by using highly trained and skilled staff. This means that the company will have to purchase new standard equipments for the new staff to use. This type of organizational structure will give employees a chance to share there ideas, experience, knowledge, expertise and divide the tasks among themselves thus making work easy. Since there is the use of functional expertise, there is room for creation of new ideas to improve the company’s operation (Brindley, 1998).

The aftermath of such kind of an organizational structure is that there is high tendency of dual reporting among employees because they are all answerable to same manger of the company.  More so, the top management will be in control of allocation and development of projects of the company. This crates inequality in the company lead to communication conflicts between the employers and the employees thus affecting operation of the company. In addition, it creates tension in management whereby there is power and leadership struggle among top management.

The orthopedic surgery company can use the strategic business unit type of organizational structure in order to meet its demands. For the firm to be able to grow, the administrator needs to restructure its bureaucratic system to enhance good administration. Positions are created in the company to facilitate the needs of the company and utilize available opportunities which include provision of MRI services that are potable. The administrator will have to understand the external pressures that may be a threat to service delivery.

The administrator will have to identify parts on which to concrete for efficient service delivery that are autonomous. For instance, the company should come up with finance and accounting department to initiate the company’s budget, management unit for efficient running of the company and development part to expand its operations to other places. Such an organizational structure has an impact on orthopedic surgery company in a positive manner whereby the company is able to beat competition and win more people than its opponents who are offering the same services. More so, the company’s bureaucratic management has improved so much thereby facilitating harmony in service delivery.

Environmental factors that include competition, employment and reimbursement have impacted greatly MRI service delivery. Competition from other companies will mean that the company readjust its plans and put more efforts in an attempt to beat there opponents (Brindley, 1998).

The managed care and Medicare patients prefer different companies that offer the same services at a different amount. Employment will influence the operation of the company in that it will be forced to hire and train new personnel at higher amount. Therefore the company puts more money for this service. In addition, the staff will need to be motivated for them to be able to work efficiently. Reimbursement of funds will force the companies to pour a lot of funds in purchasing new machines and meeting other operating expenses.

Any company that will want to utilize the opportunity should bear in mind the risks that are involved. For instance during reimbursement of funds, the company should administer the money wisely or otherwise it can be bankrupt. This will mean that it will have no money to pay its workers, sustain and maintain the company. Competition from other low priced companies may lead to the company loosing its patients thus there operating costs increases as they will try to win back the customers. Recruiting and training new high skilled technical staff may be some how expensive. The new staff may also take a long time before providing quality services to customers. This will make the company to operate expensively with income generating ventures (Brock, 1989).

Human resource management will have to devise a plan on how to overcome the competitive environment. This department will put in place an initiative for the success of the company in providing portable MRI services to its patients. These can be facilitated by an effort to attract and retain existing talents as those who are competing with them will set up a strategic plan of employment of human resource personnel. The company will be able to acquire skilled qualified personnel to help in provision of MRI services.

Due to stiff competition, the company must learn how to adapt and remain focused in offering its services to patients. The human resource professional has to implement a strategy in that they should be business driven by understanding the needs of the company and be able to influence the decisions that are made and the formulated policies. This initiative will help the company to foresee any danger and be able o resolve it within time thus saving on maintenance services (Brock, 1989).

It will be important for the company to come up with motivational strategy s this will make the employees to do things with all there ability to meet the demand of the company of providing high quality MRI services to its patients. When personal needs and demands are satisfied, the person will be able to handle organizational tasks effectively. The main principle behind employee’s motivation is for the survival of the company which is vital because of the stiff competition and changing workplaces. It is important to organize talents in a company because every employee has different capacity of influence in the operation of the company. The human resource will deal with the changing needs of the company. Therefore it is advisable for the company to adapt to new demand of patients and be fast to change its way whenever it is going astray. The human resource will be able to manage by organizing, planning, leading and controlling the company and being informed on any emerging issues in dealing with its patients and in training and development of employees (Ramanadhan, 1986).

An aline-item for personnel costs in the company will be; the cost of hiring new four technical staff at $ 60,000+ the cost of hiring new radiologists to provide professional services at $500.000 annually. These will total to: $560,000.

A functional budget to calculate personnel costs per MRI procedure will be: $560,000/10,000=$56.

A clinic program for 3000 patients will be developed in order to provide affordable and reliable MRI services to these patients.
