My research led me to the ‘Photographer Writer’ opening at your magazine and I am very excited by this opportunity. My interests, skills and experiences make me an ideal candidate for this position.

In addition to a graduate degree in Digital Media from the U.S. which I personally financed through five years experiences as a Software Designer, I am also proficient at Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom. I also worked as a Professional Photographer in Nanjing, China for two years during which my clients included both private individuals as well as commercial entities. My academic and professional experiences have helped me master various aspects of photography such as composition, lighting, color, and tone.

I have also published postcards featuring pictures I took during extensive travel through 50 different cities in 4 different countries. I have also been maintaining a travel blog since 2008 where I publish my travel experiences along with the pictures I take. My blog attracts a considerable amount of traffic including numerous comments from the visitors, many of whom regularly visit the blog.

I regularly follow fashion trends around the world and have been noticing the globalization of fashion industry as well. Hermes is now selling ‘saris’ in India while many U.S. and European fashion designers have been incorporating Chinese design elements into their products. My strong knowledge about both the Eastern and Western cultures give me a unique advantage and allow me to recognize cross-cultural design inspirations.

My travel experiences have not only allowed me to improve my photographing skills but also gain extensive cross-cultural knowledge. By meeting with people from diverse ethnic, cultural, and national backgrounds, my thinking horizon has expanded and I have developed more objective mindset. Regular face-to-face as well as online interaction with others has also helped me improve my communication skills.
