Response to Denese Booker

Wow! Denise, I absolutely love your presentation. I admit that I kept mine fairly simple because I do not have much experience with this sort of thing. So when I saw your presentation I was quite impressed. The visual style is very inviting. It makes a strong first impression, and it is not cluttered. At first I was not completely sure about what to do, until I realized that you had a drop-down menu for all of the materials. So it turned out to be very easy to navigate.

Before I looked through the menu, I read the quote on the front page by Belquis Ahmadi. It says quite a lot in just a few lines. As I explored your site, I found that I was familiar with some of the selections you chose (such as the book “I am Malala”), but that most of them were unfamiliar to me. So I started to read through some of them. I was especially touched by the poem from Leeda, and the line “I have all the rights you have. Remind me why you imprison me in my home.” It is a reminder that women should have the same human rights as men, but that often they do not. I have no read through all the sources on your site yet, but I will definitely be spending more time looking through it. Great job!

Response to William Senderowitz

I had a difficult time trying to decide which of these projects was my favorite. Your project is definitely one of them. The visual look of the site goes well with the subject. It is, of course, a dark subject, and the black background and the sharp lines really make the material stand out. It is interesting to compare how different students approached the matter of creating a site. I admit that I do not have much experience with this, and I was very impressed with all of the presentations. Yours especially looks very professional, like it could be put out by a museum or other organization.

I like that you chose a significant number of visual presentations, and that you also found videos that offered insight into the artworks. The video about Sereen Gualtieri was especially powerful. She demonstrates how art can be such an important force for spreading messages about human rights abuses. Of all the different works I looked at, that was the one that stayed with me the most. Great job!
