In recent years, women in the labor market have increased significantly. The number of women acquiring higher education and taking jobs perceived to be for men has increased drastically. However, there is still a challenge of the pay gap contributed by several factors such as race and culture, among many more. Cooking has been culturally perceived as a passion for most women; however, statistics show that most male chefs make more money than women. A study by Haddaji (2017) states that women are likely to be paid 24.6% less than men annually.  According to Maffetone (2018), Women’s health status is a significant contributor to the pay gap because women’s health quality is lower than men’s despite women living longer. Therefore, to minimize the gender pay gap, women need to practice a quality diet, have physical exercise, avoid domestic violence and take their health as a personal responsibility.

Society believes health is wealth. Women’s poor health makes it challenging to fight the pay gap because they visit healthcare facilities more regularly, indicating that they pay more for insurance and are likely to miss work Maffetone (, 2018). Additionally, women’s poor health is influenced by industrial products, which may have short or long-term negative effects on them because they are mostly the primary targets.

Secondly, women are likely to suffer gender violence that would negatively affect their health. According to Craigie and Dasgupta (2017), gender violence’s influence on women’s health leads to a significant pay gap since women spend more time at home nursing injuries. To solve the above challenges, people should be educated on healthy living and against domestic violence to have full focus on their jobs. Additionally, companies should be regulated from selling products that may have negative effects on human health. Generally, there is a significant improvement in pay gap reduction, but more should be done.
