How are the health promotion needs of diverse populations different/similar to the general population?

The assumption of the needs of the public in a general concept is often based on the basic conditions of healthcare assistance that each person needs. For instance, it is a general need for young infants towards the ages comprising childhood to receive vaccinations and immunization medicines. This is a health service protocol that is specifically imposed as part of the basic responsibilities of local health providers. Another aspect would be the provision of compulsory vaccinations to members of the community during the onset of a specific health phenomenon (Bond, et al, 1994) [e.g. SARS outbreak]. Following through these protocols establish the foundation of how public health operations are supposed to be given attention to especially when it comes to making sure of the capacity of the public to develop immunity and physical strength to avoid the onset of certain ailments in the community.

On the other hand, the health needs of diverse population intend to be more detailed and directed towards particular groups in the community alone. Most of the time, these considerations include ethical issues relating to race and religion. Another matter to be given attention to is that of the specific ailments that usually target a particular race alone due to their physical attributes that usually make them vulnerable to such ailments. An example for this matter is that of Jehovah’s Witnesses and the way they do not accept blood transfusion; for so many years, this firm stand in relation to this religious affiliation has pushed for medical developments including the discovery and creation of new medical options that could increase blood production in the body without the need for blood transfusion (Christensen, 2011). On the concept of race-defined health procedures, there are instances when skin cancer is usually considered more evident on white-skinned races than on the dark-skinned individuals (Christensen, et al, 2011), hence research continues to define how to prevent and cure such ailment as it develops.
