Improving the Population’s Health, Coursework Example

Introduction

Modern healthcare organizations require a high level of support and understanding of the many components that impact the practice environment to improve quality of care. This process is essential to the identification of a system that will encompass a variety of areas and also enable patients to receive comprehensive care at many levels. This system, for example, will be congruent with the objectives set forth in the Affordable Care Act and will provide a high level of support for disease prevention across all age groups (Koh & Sebelius, 2010). A system of this nature must encompass critical functionality from a managerial perspective, as well as offer the technology that is required to ensure that patient care is available throughout the life span, using the model set forth in the ACA (McDonough, 2012).

Analysis

In spite of the advantages of the ACA, its translation into real-life practice environments is largely challenging on many levels, due to the complexities of the system and how it impacts patient care. As a result, a healthcare system under this model must demonstrate a greater focus on preventative care, along with oversight from key experts from a variety of healthcare fields. Furthermore, it is important to provide greater access to public health services to alleviate some of the most prominent public health concerns that exist today (Rosenbaum, 2011). Finally, the system must be integrated as such that multidisciplinary care and treatment is possible across and within all organizations (Hardcastle et.al, 2011).

Conclusion

The development of an effective approach to a modern healthcare system requires a high level of support and an understanding of the issues that impact patient care. The Affordable Care Act must be used as a vehicle in advancing the healthcare system to promote greater organization and multifaceted care and treatment for all patients. This process will encourage the development of a system that overlaps on many levels to provide comprehensive care and treatment to all persons throughout the life span.
