Needless to say, that parents produce irreversible impacts on the way children learn. In education, parents can be fairly regarded as the most important source of influence on children. For these reasons, it is critical that we, as education professionals, are able to establish continuous reciprocal communication ties with parents, and formal, informal, and social activities can certainly help resolve these issues.

School boards can become an effective form of formal parental involvement in the education process. To have a school board consisting of parents, education professionals, and student representatives means to lay the foundation for the development of an effective communication system at school. The basic formal functions of such parental board will include outlining and supervising various school activities, monitoring student performance, analyzing and approving learning curriculum and materials to be used in the process of learning, developing and implementing recommendations about possible learning innovation, and participating in the process of choosing and appointing school staff. In such board, parents must have a clear vision of their responsibilities and the boundaries of their control. They should exercise their power to the extent, which does not harm the learning process.

Meetings and various school activities can be used as informal means of communicating with parents. For example, parents can participate in extracurricular activities with children, organize them, choose topics which interest children, and create a cohesive educational environment. Such informal activities can become a good instrument for creating and using parent-school partnerships for the sake of achieving the main educational objectives by children.

Social activities can come out in the form of joint activity models, in which parents and education staff will promote the importance of equality and mutual respect. Such social activities will be designed to give parents a voice in the major educational decisions. For example, group discussions can be organized to determine ideas and priorities in the learning process for children. These discussions will help parents express their questions and concerns in an interactive environment and will establish communication as the logical process for achieving the basic curriculum goals.
