Frontier Bound has given me a new perspective and approach of my educational program. Having enrolled in the Women’s Health Community Nurse Practitioner Program (WHCNP), the COI enabled me learn the importance learning through experience. This encompasses the social, cognitive, and teaching presence. They all contribute to the accomplishment of programs associated to Nurse Midwifery and Family Nurse Practitioner. In the process, they put into consideration the social and emotional connections of the learners, which contribute to goal attainment. All these programs are linked to the community and thus, online environments improve learning outcomes for learners. This model introduced students to their new learning community, which gave staff, faculty, and students a language common to all that creates an avenue to talk about their expectations and happenings. The common language promotes peace and unity, and thus working environments will have productive staff members. The teaching examined systematic methods of teaching and gap filling techniques that improve the attrition and learning of students.
In view of all facts stated above, my educational approach or program has changed; in that, bonding processes enabled me have a sense of belonging in the course. Online environments have also contributed to change because it is an excellent medium of interaction in the social context given that learners are comfortable. This enabled me interact comfortably with other learners and share views and opinions that contribute to the betterment of the community. In addition, a sense of collaboration is developed, and distinct impressions are formed, not forgetting appreciation of different perspectives. The formed collaborations enable learners work effectively and efficiently amid environmental differences. Consequently, social presence has made other course participants acknowledge my point of view, which encourages individuals disagree during course programs, but still maintain a sense of trust. The COI activities piqued my curiosity as a learner and hence, I am eager to learn more from my instructors in order to improve the community’s well-being. In the perspective of resolving content related questions, individuals used the brainstorming technique and researching information relevant to course programs.
Frontier Bound experiences have given me a different view and opinion of how I will approach my educational program. The use of the group and bonding methods is essential in this institution because they are all about serving the community through midwifery services. The school gave me as a learner a new way of interacting by using online environments even though I had used this tool in communicating with others. In my previous learning institutions, social presence was not as important an aspect as it is in Frontier Bound University. The environment is conducive for learning my preferred course because individuals are united and share their information in a manner that leaves one feeling comfortable. The experiences left me wanting to learn more and share with the community, since they aim at serving the members in a manner that improves their health and leaves them feeling secure. Trust is also an important factor that is built in the institution, in a way that brings learners together, with the aim of giving insights to them and encouraging them to partake in brainstorming. Midwifery school is not my comfort zone but, I am confident that, with the COI program, I will be able to reach my educational goals in a conducive learning environment.
