Introduction

Advanced practice nursing requires a specialized approach to a variety of issues that impact patients and that support their health and wellbeing. In this capacity, nurses must contribute their body of knowledge and expertise in promoting policies that will enhance patient care quality and outcomes in local communities and on a national scale (Milstead, 2013). Advanced practice nurses are a valuable component of modern healthcare practice and provide a basis for examining new ideas and approaches to common health concerns in communities and throughout the world (Lowe, Plummer, O’Brien, & Boyd, 2012). In this capacity, nurses provide knowledge and expertise that supports practical policies and approaches to healthcare delivery that will provide optimal results for patients (Lowe et.al, 2012).

Analysis

Advanced practice nurses must advocate for improving quality of care and other conditions that impact patients and integrate key nursing principles into the practice environment (Grace, 2013). Nurses must advocate for their patients and promote ethical responsibility in their activities in order to guide patients down the correct path to improved health and wellbeing (Grace, 2013). In addition, they must provide a framework that governs their practice, including theoretical principles to promote effectiveness and productivity within this role (Brooten et.al, 2012). Advanced practice nurses must administer skilled care and treatment to patients that is governed by quality-based principles and objectives to improve healthcare practice as a whole (Brooten et.al, 2012).

Conclusion

Advanced practice nurses provide significant knowledge and resources to healthcare environments through their expanded knowledge and resources to accommodate patient needs effectively. These efforts require nurses to be proactive in addressing their needs and in expanding the knowledge and opportunities that are available to patients in order to improve their quality of life, using ethically responsible approaches to governing policy and in the administration of direct patient care.
