Pharmacological Agent: Cerianna, Coursework Example

The intended audience for which the above brochure is applicable is pregnant women, lactating women, pediatric and geriatric patients. The booklet is helpful in its information, and it helps clinicians with a better guide for the treatment of recurrent breast cancer. From the guide in t5he brochure, cerianna is also known as fluoroestradiol F 18 injection.  It is a sterile solution that is clear and colorless, majorly for injections involving intravenous. It has an osmolarity of 340 mOsm with a pH that ranges from 4.5 to 7.0. It has a mechanism of action of fluoroestradiol F 18 binds ER.

The confirmation of the final product in 40 mL is more than five µg fluoroesdtradol. The recommended dosage to e administered is 222 MBq (6mCi). The dosage ranges from 111MBq to 222 MBq, the same as three mCi to 6 mCi. The dose is administered as saphenous injections that last between one minute to two minutes (Mazzanti et al., 2020). The approved imaging commencement time is 80min and ranges from 20min to 80min after the drug dispensation. It is required that only authorized persons with the required and necessary skills and qualifications are to receive, use and administer the Cerianna drug. It is supposed to be issued with significant precautions to reduce radiation exposure during dispensation.

The indicated therapy is not to be delayed to administer the drug. Cerianna has adverse reactions reported to be injection site pain and dysgeusia. Two precautions are associated with the drug; risk of misdiagnosis. Cerianna is not supposed to be used in place of autopsy when the autopsy is showing in patients with repetitive breast cancer (Cirio et al., 2016). The second precaution is the risk of radiation. The drug should be handled safely with a well-planned patient preparation process to secure patients and clinicians from unintentional radiation exposure. The drug is only supposed to be used in specific populations, i.e., pregnancy, lactation, pediatric and geriatric.
