This week your Learning Resources described various approaches to public health using systems thinking. For this Discussion, bring to mind a public health program or effort you are involved with or might wish to design in the future, and consider how systems thinking might enhance it. Prepare for this Discussion by creating a logic model for this public health program or effort. Be sure to cite your readings this week to support your argument.
Write on the following:
Briefly describe your selected program and identify the characteristics of this system.
The Public Health 2.0 is a public health program that aims to bring in better healthcare service for the public (Breslow, 2002). This assumption of the government’s responsibility to serve the needs of the people allows for the creation of systems that involves voluntary service on the part of the healthcare experts working in the industry. It also involves an essential process of innovative research to be able to make assumptive considerations on bettering the situations of the current healthcare system based on the operations of the said field in the past towards public healthcare development. Through the use of modern technology, Public Health 2.0 does provide a wider scope of assuring the different efficient possibilities by which the values of the public could be better served (Breslow, 2002). In line with this, the said system also imposes on making the healthcare system more interactive with the actual users or stakeholders of the operations handled in the industry.
In what ways would using systems thinking help to break down barriers between different departments and different funding sources?
Systems thinking do provide a wider scope of manifesting an excellence of service through a systematic approach of organizing the different operations that the industry needs to handle. In line with the desire of improving healthcare service, systems thinking establish a more secured path that does indicate on the need of all the different departments involved in the operation to cooperate between each other (Schneider, et al, 2008). This further allows them the chance to create a pattern of operation that allows each department to complete its appointed responsibilities hence improving the course by which the public is being served. Through proper organization, allowable conditions of fund priorities could be arranged hence giving more budget-allowances to more important aspects of the industry hence balancing the release of provisionary finances for the organizations handling the said course of development especially involving public healthcare.
Describe some ways in which this system could be tested and validated
Since the system is dedicated to innovation and development, it could be analyzed that the process by which this operation is expected to develop is based upon the desirable indication on how the main stakeholders and their values are given particular attention to (Schneider, 2008). Through feedback and survey operations, the reaction of the users of the system could be collected and be used as a measuring tool that could define the validation of the system as it is applied in modern healthcare operations.
