Strategic planning is an integral practice in all organizations as they aim to achieve specific objectives and milestones. This plan must encompass a number of critical areas of focus that will be effective in facilitating future directives that the organization will implement. Therefore, the scope of these need must be well-defined, accompanied by the challenges of the work and external environments, employee dynamics, and other considerations (Hebda & Czar, 2013). The required steps include the development of a strategy that recognizes the current state of the organization, its future needs, and its overall focus for the foreseeable future to improve patient care quality and related outcome (Hebda & Czar, 2013).

An organizational strategy is contingent upon a specific framework that will address historical considerations and how to best move a technology-based approach forward to address patient care and its impact on quality-based needs (Altuwaijri, 2011). In this capacity, managers must be prepared to address the challenges of patient care and treatment in the context of nursing practice, as they must offer input and recommendations regarding system objectives and how to improve quality of care using information technologies (Hebda & Czar, 2013). At the same time, it is necessary to identify the role of managers and a viable planning instrument in promoting a specific strategy to support these technologies, as this approach will encourage organizations to embrace patient needs and accept long-term change (Heckman, 2003; Segars & Grover, 1999). These considerations are critical in advancing the organization’s capacity to provide high quality care and treatment to its vast patient population in a timely and effective manner, while also taking nurse-led strategies into consideration as part of a long-term strategy for success and achievement.
