Words: 452

Coursework

Executive Summary

My goals and objectives as a DNP student continue to be met, as I am meeting many of the required competencies and am working towards achieving the remaining competencies in my current studies in NURS 810 and NURS 914. I have completed many of these competencies by completing the discussion board assignments, establishing a comprehensive business plan, completing a peer review, and writing a position paper. My coursework to date has provided me with practical knowledge that I am able to use in my future career, such as grant and proposal writing, expanding communication skills, and conducting peer reviews.

I have learned in my courses to date that diversity is a desirable characteristic for my portfolio and my skillset; therefore, I have sought to gain a greater sense of diversity and how it impacts leadership roles (Arguden). Furthermore, I also recognize that my contributions to my coursework represent a means of developing new methods to improve my practice and to become an active participant in new activities that primarily involve female leaders (Corkery & Taylor, 2012). In this capacity, I will be aptly prepared to manage the future tasks that I am given in a leadership role and will be an active contributor to the knowledge base in this manner (Corkery & Taylor, 2012). To date, I believe that I have acquired some of the skills and competencies that are necessary to be an effective contributor on many levels; however, my core competencies must be perfected in order to accomplish effective patient care outcomes (Hall et.al, 2008). These competencies are essential to my continued growth and development, as well as in achieving the qualifications that are necessary to achieve success in future practice (Oncology Nursing Society, 2014). I am confident that I will continue to grow and thrive as a DNP student and will possess the ability to promote change in my patients and in the practice as whole.

Response

Based on the contents of the presentation, I believe that I am a good fit for a future leadership positions on nursing boards, given my skills and competencies to date and the growth that I have already achieved. I believe that my skills and competencies are growing on a consistent basis; therefore, I am in a position to become a future leader in a board role.
