It is 5,000 years ago since human societies experience emergence of civilization. There was great change in the way people worked, think and lived. During Afro-Eurasia era, Mongols were the strongest community. Their armies brought destruction in places they went.  However, their invasions and attacks ushered in a new era. There was increase in political and cultural contacts through trading networks. The division of the world into three distinct zones separated people; however, they kept on contacting each other. People still interacted depending on geographical, climatic and changing historical patterns.

Destruction caused by armies of Mongols and the Black Death left the Islamic societies in tatters. The new Islamic empires tried to rebuild and strengthen the lost connections. For example, Turkish Ottomans Empire rose to power and defeated their rivals.

Mongols were great treat to these societies. They always invade and destroy connections that existed among the societies. Mongols used combined efforts and borrow skills across various existing emperors to maintain their position. To defeat them, the Islamic societies revived connections to build strong force to conquer them. For example, Ottomans and Safavids constructed power to defeat the dominant Mongols.
