The Archduke Franz Ferdinand, Poem Example

Pages: 1

Words: 185

Poem

The people were up in arms, the government didn’t deliver what was promised.

There was no Constitution to uphold the law, people felt that they weren’t free.

It all changed when Franz Ferdinand was shot; he fell to the ground.

The violence erupting in the streets; could this be for me?

No ability to speak, no ability to vote;

There was a great need for change.

No matter your gender, you didn’t have an ability to do what you wanted.

The government looked at us as if we were covered in mange.

The Defence of the Realm Act had just been passed, quelling our hope.

It is possible that the death of the Archduke just wasn’t enough to subdue this fear.

While the government tried and tried to prevent us from rising up,

We knew that the end of their violence and power was near.

As we entered the war, we know that we were doing so to bring a new era;

Change that would allow the people the right to do as they choose.

As we fought for our liberal values at this great war,

The assassination of the Archduke Franz Ferdinand reminded us that we could not lose.

Time is precious

Time is precious

don’t waste it!
