A reprehensible act of brutality off a frightening series of occurrences within the film “The Black Cat” based on Edgar Allen Poe’s 1843 story “The Black Cat”. This is an utterly haunting film, where the protagonist shows his love for animals at the beginning of the film. He is kind, compassionate, and caring individual. In real life, this would be an ideal individual for society. However, he starts drinking a little too much and becomes an alcoholic. He begins to mistreat his cat and his wife leading to the cruelest deed a person can do an animal.
The man’s epigrammatic illustration of the life he lived before is seen to be good. This means that he was a successful man with a good job and family. As the film progresses, it dawns on me that the life this man knew has slowly started taking a change for the worst that causes hurt. This man drinks more and more in almost every scene. He is depressed and seems to exist in his own world where only alcohol was his companion. This made him neglect his cat and wife because he now felt they were a nuisance and treated them with spitefulness. This man reaches a point where he stops to care and falls into critical depths of despondency. Even though I pitied the man at this point in his life, I did not feel any remorse. I felt that he deserved it since he had become so vindictive.
A perfect though tough vignette to gulp down of the influence of a person’s guilt to slowly but surely degrade personalities as a natural way for presuming that guilt. In this way, evil qualities substitute the good qualities in an individual. For that reason, fault is less intensely felt and existing free from torment appears to be attainable. The yearning to live devoid of suffering of guilt comes together with every increasingly perverse action that is undertaken and constructs a vicious sequence. At the man’s most shocking moment, he was able to kill the cat then get some sleep afterwards.
This soul power to anesthetize the consciousness comes at an expensive cost. However, it made appear like an effortless capability of an individual, if not understood in that people are incontrovertibly poised to the preservation instinct meaning that they keep themselves alive and pain free. The film clearly illustrates indispensable wickedness given that it is frequently covered up well to an individual. The alcohol acts as the catalyst, which makes an embryonic horror of reality. The film makes it clear that the terror should not be blamed on the alcohol. Instead, the alcohol is simply a mechanism that brings to existence what is known as an instinctive potential for wickedness.
I could not even bear the amount of animal cruelty that was taking place in the film, but it puts forward a theme of the futility of attempting to bury the guilt or get rid of it at all means. The man feels guilty given that he became wicked and treated the cat in a sickening way and yet the cat loves him regardless. The film reveals the unreasonableness people every now and then show. They do not necessarily value or embrace unreserved, steadfast compassion, but maltreat and even take exception to it for the shortcomings in people it proves. Though the man does everything to do away with his loving black cat, the guilt he feels cannot allow him.
This is a genuinely spine-chilling and great film. The director makes sure that he makes the film in a horrific way that shows that he used Poe’s main ideas intimately. The film has been made in surprisingly disturbing settings, making it one of the most horrifying films I have ever watched, and in this particular case based on Poe’s stories. Regardless, it is shocking and repulsive of the man’s horrendous actions and the growth of a character making me question humanity as a whole. From the start of the film, it was so attention-grabbing, not to mention the setting, the lighting, and the dreadful sounds. Within a 90-minute period, the director had the capacity to seduce the person watching the film into trepidation and terror, twisting the actuality of what people thought and considered the globe entails. The film looks into the aspect of the guilt of a cat killer and how vulnerable he is, looking into the existence of any compassion he had. The film was raised so many questions and left me disgusted and left me smiling at the same time because the film was a piece of art.
The best scenes in the film that show animal cruelty in greatest heights are the most emotional. I could not handle seeing the cat being abused repeatedly and then finally killed. Yes, I believe that the brutality was awful, and it almost certainly offends today’s susceptibility. On the other hand, the scenes explicate how things actually happen in present day society. It takes humanity so little to be driven from compassion and affection to detestation and destruction, which in actuality is the horror film watched in homes and neighborhoods around the globe. After the film, I was left to wonder if the narration dealt with a hero or adversary and whether he had done the right thing by being cold-blooded and callous or a justice believer.
Reason for Choice of Particular text and what is hoped to be achieved
This particular text was chosen because the film has some type of realism perversion idea. This takes on the unrelenting assessment of the boundaries of reality. Whereas the exterior environment within which the film opens out is conventional, the scenes, roles, and ideas are not simple. This means that the roles are played by individuals who enforce highly fantastical analysis of reality on every event that takes place within the film. The Black Cat film is definitely horror that is induced by fantasy, which makes it even more fascinating.
I hope to achieve the comprehension that the film really gives a picture of an individual who has no capacity to control his inclinations. This is a widespread character trait of many people and in this particular film. The cat makes sure the man is reminded of the heinous act every single day of his life. This makes the story extremely interesting considering it leaves a person in suspension, and allows them to interpret what happens after the film ends. The events in the film are not put plainly, whether they are paranormal or if the lead actor is just insane. We know that the man is not in the right state of mind making a very unstable individual. The cat represents a number of things including truth, evenhandedness, and punishment.
