Introduction
Many Americans face critical challenges with respect to food supplies and malnutrition. This is a significant problem, particularly in many communities where poverty runs rampant and wreaks havoc on local residents. This is an important reminder that food availability in the United States in many communities is very low, thereby creating an environment in which many children go hungry because their parents are unable to put adequate food supplies on the table every night. This is a critical factor in developing new ideas regarding food access and improved nutrition for millions of Americans who lack these basic services. There are significant opportunities to address these inadequacies; however, this process requires a high level understanding of the different factors which impact food supplies and how to overcome these issues effectively and with a strong ability to promote positive outcomes for children and adults. The following discussion will address food supplies and hunger reduction in the United States, examining the different aspects that have a significant impact on the health and wellbeing of millions of people who lack these basic needs.
Analysis
The United States faces a significant problem associated with food insecurity, as this issue contributes to a variety of health concerns, particularly for many children who possess cognitive difficulties and general poor health that transitions into adulthood (Chilton & Rose, 2009). Therefore, an evaluation of these conditions is necessary as a means of improving knowledge and expanding programs that will be effective in treating patients and in providing them with access to nutritious food and other resources so that they are able to overcome any mental health or physical deficits that may impact their health and wellbeing in different ways (Chilton & Rose, 2009). This is a critical step towards the discovery of new ideas that will encourage local, state, and federal agencies to actively support residents within communities where the need is greatest (Chilton & Rose, 2009). These efforts support the development of programs that include the right to have sufficient access to food and resources that impact child and adult health and wellbeing (Chilton & Rose, 2009). There are considerable efforts in place that must aim to track individuals and provide the resources that are required to minimize the lack of food resources that many communities experience (Chilton & Rose, 2009).
In the United States, children often face the reality of a lack of food on the table at mealtimes and are also contributors in sharing their own experiences with others regarding these events (Fram et.al, 2011). Children are often able to express themselves with respect to their food supplies because they are on the front lines of these debates and are able to actively contribute to discussions regarding these events and how they impact their own health and wellbeing (Fram et.al, 2011). In many households, children are visibly aware of their lack of food resources and are aiming to be proactive in sharing their experiences, rather than allowing adults to speak for them, as adults may have a different level of experience (Fram et.al, 2011). Food insecurity is a problem that is clearly identifiable in many ways and demonstrates the knowledge and experiences that children have in shaping their own experiences and how this factors into their own interpretations of health and wellbeing, as well as how these experiences impact the home life in different ways (Fram et.al, 2011).
Limited nutrition for mothers and children in the United States is a serious condition that includes poor practices associated with breastfeeding, food wasting, and the stunting of growth are significant factors in determining how individuals respond to different food restrictions within their own environments (Onis et.al, 2008). It is important to develop these strategies and to provide a basis for exploring new insights that aim to provide mothers and children with a frame of reference that supports greater attention to their health and wellbeing (Onis et.al, 2008). Mothers and their unborn children who experience poor nutrition throughout pregnancy must be able to gain greater access to services and to be proactive in meeting their needs effectively to improve health and wellbeing, before and after birth (Onis et.al, 2008).
The issues involving food and health challenges on a global scale require a high level understanding of the different areas where resources are lacking for many people, thereby increasing their risk of poor health (Martin et.al, 2013). Therefore, nurses and other healthcare providers must be able to provide the tools and resources that are required to meet these needs and to be proactive in addressing the activities that impact global health (Martin et.al, 2013). Population groups are impacted by many issues, including but not limited to malnutrition, lack of primary and preventative care services, limited training for healthcare providers, and a risk of infectious disease due to poor immunity (Martin et.al, 2013). These factors require an examination of the different events that will have a lasting impact on individuals and that will provide them with the resources and the access to healthcare providers that are necessary to support their health and nutrition as best as possible (Martin et.al, 2013).
Conclusion
Hunger is a serious issue in the United States that impacts millions of people. As a result, it is evident that these factors play a critical role in impacting how individuals and organizations respond to health needs and how these needs are met through the development of programs to improve access to nutritional foods and other items that will have a positive impact on healthcare outcomes. Mothers, children, and older adults are at a significant risk; therefore, these groups must be provided with specific opportunities to improve their own health through programs aimed to target their needs.
