Introduction

The ideal healthcare system for the United States would create opportunities for all persons, regardless of income, to obtain access to care and treatment without restrictions or reservations. As an advanced practice nurse, the healthcare system must encompass a variety of alternatives for patients who face many health issues, such as effective clinical practice objectives and greater attention to patient-related needs (Avraham, 2011). Nurse behaviors must emphasize the needs of patients above all else and support long-term growth and advancement to improve patient quality of life across all population groups.

Analysis

For the United States, its healthcare system currently lacks in many areas, thereby requiring significant upgrades and support from a variety of areas in order to accomplish the desired objectives to improve quality (Murray & Frenk, 2010). In this capacity, the industry must place a greater focus on patients with multiple comorbidities, as this requires continuous care and treatment, as well as strategies to prevent chronic disease in emerging populations (Parekh & Barton, 2010). For Americans, healthcare spending continues to increase without any real end in sight; therefore, it is important to evaluate current system-based techniques and strategies so that the system will expand its scope and work to reduce some of the spending that occurs throughout the industry (Emanuel et.al, 2012).

Conclusion

The healthcare system in the United States has grown significantly in recent years, but it requires continuous improvement and evaluation in order to improve quality of care and achieve the desired expectations. There are significant opportunities for advanced practice nurses to collaborate with government officials and other key experts in supporting strategies to reduce spending and balance the needs of patients with current objectives that emphasize healthcare for all persons, regardless of income or social status, both now and in the future.
