A Book Store That You Frequented When You Were Growing Up, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 339

Essay

I remember very vividly the bookstore I use to visit when I was growing up, this is because it was no ordinary bookstore; a young couple had just bought the neighborhood social hall and filled it with the children books. The process of converting the hall into a presentable place to learn was involved moving a couple of pool tables to give space for bookshelves; I therefore frequented the bookstore not out of my own will and enthusiasm initially but due to my parent’s pressure on me. I soon discovered that there are very many interesting books in the bookstore to keep any one busy and informed (Bird, E., July 7, 2012). Together with other children we used to go to school together, we developed a habit of passing by the books to read the interesting collection of story books stocked there. Some of the books that got my attention include books of artists who wrote about art and culture and other world-famous book like A Little Princess. In this little book was very interesting in that a gained a lot of knowledge from such characters as the little girl who was turned into a servant in a boarding school and her father was presumed dead after missing for a number of days. Sara Crewe who is the character that inspires me in the story is very intelligent and creative. This great attributes helps her to effectively deal with the headmistress who secretly hated her for the intelligence and sought to portray her as a girl who was spoilt because of her fathers wealth. The story continues to be even interesting when Sara’s story telling skill makes her to be very popular with all the students in the school. The moral of the story is being friendly and good to all people despite opposition (National Education Association, 2007).
