A Description of a Julius Caesar Bust, Essay Example

Pages: 2

Words: 630

Essay

Julius Caesar was born in 101 B.C.  His birthplace is unknown; he died in 44 B.C. via an assassination. He was famous with his role in the Roman Generals. He was considered one of the greatest generals of the Roman History.

The sculpture I am looking at from a picture is the bust of Julius Caesar of the Roman Military who played a vital role in the transformation of the Roman Republic into the Roman Empire. The bust is sitting kind of sideways exposing Julius Caesars left side of his face and a little bit of the right side of his face. The background is gray shaded and looks like its sitting in a case were the back and the bottom were the bust sits are all one.

On his head he is wearing a golden head peace that has a golden leaf at the crown of the head.  As I look down a little further I can see his forehead which is made of silver inlay. The forehead is medium in size and is kind of rippled.

Again the bust is sitting kind of sideways exposing Julius Caesar’s left ear which is made in silver inlay. I can see his right eye in its entirety and part of his left eye Scanning down further I see his eyebrows which are made of gold and are thin and rugged looking. The eyes have no color in them and again are made of silver inlay, the nose of Julius Caesar is slender with a little ripple of skin on the left side leading halfway between the top of the nose to the middle were his beard starts.

The beard is made of gold and covers his most of his face down to the top of his neck. His bear is not a bushy beard. It looks like a short beard. Above his lips is a little indentation. Julius Caesar’s lips are small and he has a serious look on his face there is an indentation between his lips and chin. The chin is small but yet rugged As I look further down I see his neck which again is made of silver inlay. At the base of his neck there is his garment. He has on the front of the garment a gold piece of metal which is attached to his garment. There are scrolls on this piece of metal and little peaces of metal along with five big clear or diamond jewels on it in-between each jewel there are smaller rubies. As I scan to the right and down I see the rest of the garment which is made of silver with patches of gold on it. There is one huge jewel on the back of the lower part of the garment and three little jells on the front. One of the smaller jewels is pink, the middle one is green and I can not see the color of the other jewel.
