Case Brief

The need to monitor the incoming and outgoing inventory of materials in a healthcare facility is an important aspect of developing a good sense of control on the overall system of operation that the organization takes into full account. Noticeably, it could be realized that determining a better sense of development is one that makes an easier process of improving whatever quality of service the healthcare facility is giving to its patients. For this case, considering a small operation for a small community in Midtown, the healthcare facility catered for this particular observation is seen to have the capacity of serving at least a few individuals with the use of 120 beds in the area.

With full consideration of the situation and the capacity of the facility to serve, the organization is expected to keep in full stock of the materials that are most commonly needed for the major operations done in the area. Other materials are to be stored in minimal amounts so as not to overwhelm the stock room or the storage area for the facility. Keeping close mandate on how these materials are tracked is then required to be handled accordingly.

Goals and Objectives of Project

  • To establish a good sense of the recording system needed to establish the organization’s capacity to serve the needs of the community.
  • To make a more effective process of keeping information that is accurate with the storage details that make the management of the operations more effective.
  • To improve inventory turnovers so as to make a determinable course of development especially in terms of imposing progress on how the materials are kept and distributed at the most effective course possible.

Applications of Software Program

The software program to be implemented in this case would be a factor that would serve as part of the general EHR used in the organization. EHR or [General] Electronic Health Record is a system that is used under an overall network that serves the facility’s operational directives. While there is a part of the program that is dedicated to patient details alone, inventory data could also be a part of the record, as it is to be customized for the need of the organization accordingly. Noticeably, it is with this concept of development that the inputting of data with regards materials used for a particular patient could be better monitored. Also, the warning points that the program shall have especially in terms of sending out notice for materials or supplies that are nearly out of stock would set an alert to the administration as to what they should buy at the time and what other materials are still available for immediate use for the patients.

Recommendations

Training individuals who are to take on the responsibility of manning the system is necessary. Minimal staff may be placed on duty to watch over these systems. Necessarily, the individuals who are to be situated to take on such conditions ought to make a definite stance especially in making sure that the data inputted into the storage system is accurate enough to be able to support the service needs of the organization and to meet the demands of the clients as well.
