A Guide to Geriatric Syndromes, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 321

Essay

The health considerations of seniors within Mission Viejo and the surrounding communities are largely underserved and require an ongoing approach that will support their needs effectively and without delays. Common health concerns for seniors include cognitive and physical impairments, in addition to chronic disease; therefore, greater efforts must be made to accommodate these objectives in a timely manner in order to ensure that patient care outcomes are achieved within these communities (HealthinAging.org, 2012). From this perspective, seniors should have access to services on a more frequent basis that address their specific needs accordingly. This framework serves as the basis for the development and construction of Golden Age Hospital (GHA) in Mission Viejo to provide service to seniors in the surrounding communities who face common challenges that require further attention and focus.

The demographics of these communities warrant a greater focus on senior living and health (city-data.com, 2014), as there is continuous growth and expansion of the elderly population throughout the United States. As a result, seniors must be able to access specific modes of care and treatment that will support their needs effectively and improve their quality of life. Therefore, the construction of Golden Age Hospital will fill a void within these communities to better serve local seniors who require continuous care and treatment for a variety of conditions as they grow older. These opportunities will engage seniors in receiving care that is specific for their needs and attentive to their primary health concerns. The new hospital will also demonstrate a sound and reasonable investment in the senior population in this area, along with an opportunity to receive state-of-the-art services in some capacities for services that are complex and multifaceted in nature. This process is instrumental in shaping outcomes and in supporting greater health and wellbeing for the senior community in this area.
