Taylor Ambulance Company is a company that endeavors to provide emergency care to people faced with a danger that threatens life. The staffs who are usually trained emergency medical service professionals experience some challenges and problems such as the accessibility to the required resources such as sufficient personnel or other techno-medical aids required to assist in achieving their respective objectives. Such challenges might have a negative personal impact on the individual professionals which might in turn affect the quality of the services they deliver. The pressure encountered at the point of service might result into some EMS individuals suffering from stress which might in turn result in unnecessary conflicts (French, 2008). The company therefore should have a mechanism in place that helps in the management of the stress levels that develop in the professionals so as to ensure achievement of the required standards of care.
The Hypothetical Thesis
The company faces a serious challenge when it comes to the attitudes of some of the mental health practitioners for it is evident that some psychiatric professionals for example, have developed a circumstantial conflict between their ethical beliefs and the role thy have to play in quality service delivery in their institutions. It would therefore be considered necessary for the management of the company to give its professionals a chance to identify and state the existing conflict, if any, between their individual ethical viewpoint and the ethical reasoning of the company (Butts, 2009).
The ethical experience evolves after sometime and the general principles and values change progressively from lower ethical values to higher ethical values over an individual’s lifetime. Exposure to different several ethical problems might sensitize and hence affect the decision maker to understand the harm that can be created by the transgression of the existing or required ethical values. A young generation of professionals is in most cases believed to be driven by money and time instead of the more valuable passion to do the work. It is therefore logical to state that the older, or for that matter, more experienced ambulance professionals will be in a better position to identify the conflict, if any, between their ethical way of reason as compared to that of their colleagues with less experience (French, 2008).
Gender disparity in the staff has a unique effect in the way service delivery is achieved for it affects the ethical reasoning of individuals. It has been noted that the men professionals are usually more concerned with the ethics of justice whereas the women on the other hand concentrate much on the ethics of care. This could be attributed to the theory which suggests that most women tend to be more ethical as a result of the socialization that takes place in institutions such as families and schools at an early age. Therefore, there will always be a difference in ethical reasoning as a result of the difference in the gender and it is expected that the women n the professional staff are in a better position to identify the existing conflict between their ethical reasoning and that of their male counterparts (Butts, 2009).
The identification of the potential conflict sources in the company as stated above will provide a platform that will be useful in implementing a program that aims at improving the ethical standards of the staff.
