A KAM Breadth, Essay Example

Pages: 2

Words: 505

Essay

A KAM Breadth relates to the proposal because it helps the writer build upon the theoretical knowledge needed to defend an argument. In particular, since the purpose of the breadth, in part, is to “develop the students’ scholarly skills in researching and writing”, it is expected that this component of the proposal will enhance the quality of the literature review sections produced. In addition, it is important for the topic to relate to the student’s area of interest and contribute to something meaningful in the field. Understanding the purpose of the KAM Breath will allow the student to achieve this. Overall, the KAM Breadth ensures a proper development of the final written in addition to a proper organization of thought. Since a majority of the topics that will be examined for this purpose are complex, it is necessary to consider the thought process prior to, during, and following the actual writing.

The goal of each individual in this program is to produce writing that reflects a unique point that each doctoral candidate is trying to prove. In my own situation, I am hoping to apply an understanding of tacit knowledge management to business practice in a manner that will allow organizational efficacy to increase. While a lot of people are aware of the importance of tangible knowledge, tacit knowledge is less understood. I will therefore determine how tacit knowledge is used in “Company Y” in the form of a case study to understand how this information could apply to other business settings. Therefore, this project relates to my personal interests and would be valuable to other professionals in the field.

Currently, the most challenging aspect of my project has been the literature review because there are many ideas that have been published concerning tacit knowledge management and I want to ensure that I include all relevant literature in a manner that is well-developed and organized. This has been particularly challenging as I have been writing my second chapter. Since all of the information I am using is related, it is difficult to determine how transitions should be made to make the reading clearer for people that have not encountered this topic. I recognize that doing so is important because I expect my primary readers to be individuals in the business setting that may have no prior experience with this topic. Therefore, the organization of the project in addition to the development of ideas will be essential to their understanding of my written work.

In addition, a major purpose of the KAM Breadth is to ensure that the utility of the written work is highlighted. Therefore, in addition to discussing theory, I believe that it would be important for me to include a discussion of practical applications of the knowledge in specific scenarios. This is necessary for individuals that are facing diverse problems in their organizations and may wish to use my discussion of tacit knowledge to further their business practices. Overall, I will do my best to consider the KAM Breadth as I continue working on my project.
