A Painter Inspired in Slumberland, Essay Example

Essay

Swimming in this beautiful green ocean, I am far from the physical life which I live when I am awake. Swimming with whales and racing off together, I feel like I’ve no feeling of being afraid or being insecure. Under the water, there is different energy which I can only describe as soft and ergotic. The movement is diverse, and everything beneath move slowly. Among the creatures, competition is crystal clear and packing order clear cut. Sea creatures have to adapt or conform their ways if the need arises.  Danger lurks in an array of places, but with the beauty and wonders down here, the danger is eliminated.  Under the water, I am a free spirit, physically and mentally, where I roam freely. Creatures can sense weakness just like humans, but the atmosphere is comfortable and calming. A green octopus having long and soft arms camouflages with its environment! Having twelve eyes and eight brains, its super intelligent! Living for its children and having three hearts, it’s diligent!

In the psychological meaning, the atmosphere can be a subjective condition created in sudden circumstances or created by oneself. The atmosphere can be experienced as an energy which is good or bad. We can sense it with our bodies, and in this exhibition, I seek to invite the spectator to rethink the atmosphere surrounding him and think about opposites such as motion, time, standstill and space.

I yearn to find a neutral point, inside my mind when I start to paint. Painting is a physical and subjective action reflected on the canvas. It leaves evidence of action and meditation. Every time I encounter with the canvas, there is tension, and the brush act as my soul’s extension with colour flows crisscrossing over the surface. I feel like I am dancing at work. In the end, I sit down with these ordinary creatures who engulf me in an atmosphere which they created just for me.
