A Personal Problem, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 324

Essay

A personal problem that I am trying to figure out on my own life is how I intend to pay back my student loans for college. I have taken out thousands of dollars of student loans to fund my education and I know that as soon as I finish school I will have to start paying all of that money back to the lenders with interest.

This is not an immediate problem, but it is lingering on my credit report and I need to keep paying close attention to it if I intend to eventually solve this financial problem. In this situation, I would characterize myself as the problem solver.

I say this because although I am experiencing the effects of this problem, I intend to solve it with a solid plan that will benefit me in the future. Now that I have identified the problem, I must make the second approach to the five step model and identify a plan. My plan is to start looking for jobs during my senior year of college. This way I can hopefully have a job ready for me as soon as I graduate. With a job, I can start earning income and make payments on my student loans.

Step three of the model considers what might happen if I don’t get a job right after college. This takes me to step four in working the strategy. I will have to keep applying for jobs and maybe in the meantime take on some internship work to gain experience and build my resume. This will help me get a job in the future. I may even take some summer internships during school.

Step five allows me to measure how effective my plan is. Considering that a college education along with internships make for a strong resume, it is likely that I will have a job after college. A job means income and this would intern eliminate my problem of student loan debt.
