Case Background
A young woman who was wounded in the head was sent to the emergency room. While she was being asked about her situation, she mentioned how she got her wound because she had a seizure and accidentally banged her head in a pole. While the team was tending on the wound, cleaning it up and fixing it for better recovery, the woman had another seizure. The team‘s response to the situation was rather evidently related to how they learned about seizure-cases and how they are trained to makes sure that the patient is safe during and even after the occurrence of the seizure.
Immediate Response
The first response was to stop every medical operation going on that was dedicated towards tending to the wound that the patient has incurred. Through this approach, concentrating on the seizure and keeping the patient clear from possible accidents that might happen became a definite source of competent performance from the team. While others were attending to the patient, one of the team members was focused on recording the data that needs to be carried into account. On the other hand, others were preparing the wound treatment that shall be implicated right after the seizure has occurred.
Note of Team Work
The delegation of responsibilities between team members was a remarkable insistence on what makes the whole picture effective in presenting the most constant forms of patient-assistance that could be drawn from the case. Noticeably, it could be understood that the concentration of each individual on the responsibility that was given to him was vital towards the overall value of the team’s work towards the patient’s quick recovery.
Safety and Work-Efficiency Rating
Safety of the patient was a primary concern for the team. The manner by which they have made sure that the patient would be well protected from such accidents occurring in the emergency room was effective enough that even when she had a seizure, the concentration on her wound and the need to record underlying symptoms of the patient was undergone properly. This way, the team was able to put an applied sense of control on the situation, making it easier for the patient to incur developmental recovery later on.
Final Remarks
The contention of the situation was a definite element that has increased the value of the team’s overall work and applicative culture on the way the patient was attended to. The unforeseen condition by which the patient had a seizure during the application of a particular medical procedure was rather a challenged for the team to take into account an immediate response system. Somehow, the manner by which they have been accustomed to a culture of immediately responding to such situations through well-delegated roles, allowed them to embrace a better chance at improving the way they handle emergencies that are most likely uncontrolled and are most often than not harder to mandate, especially if no underlying symptoms presented the emergence of such situations.
With the condition of the patient in mind, keeping a sound mind even when in the middle of the occurrence of a particularly unforeseen medical situation became a much easier route to success that the team has embraced accordingly. This is what good team play is about, as they have been accustomed to remaining ready all the time, especially in the possibility of having a lapse in medical conditions that might occur.
