Positive Psychology Center (2007) explains positive psychology as the study of strengths and excellence in a scientific way to enable communities and individuals to succeed. It is cultivation towards lives that are more satisfying and bringing out the best in individuals to make them enjoy other aspects of life. Positive individual traits are one of the concerns of positive psychology which involves a close examination of strong points and goodness that occur every minute in human life. The other concern is comprehension of positive emotions and understanding this involves being satisfied with yesterday’s events, today’s joy and tomorrow’s hope. Lastly but not least is getting to know the meaning of positive institutions which narrows down to enhance the condition of the society in terms of security and other societal issues that every community needs.

In the process of looking for ways to help better the welfare of individuals and communities, there are related implications that are not so appealing. McDonald and Callaghan (2008) apply concepts of discipline, power and influence. They explain ways in which positive psychology scatters the structure of human affairs psychology. According to them, grouping of personality strengths and values favors ways in which a person functions in support of environmental aspects surrounding an individual.

Positive psychology at the end of the day will determine growth or failure. If appropriately applied, this field of psychology can make a difference in an individual’s life. For instance, Lincoln (n.d) is quoted to have said, “always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any other one thing.” Such a quote would definitely change the attitude of a young person struggling to get good grades in school.
