Research Paper

The artifact being used in the shown picture is actually a telescope. A telescope is basically an instrument which aids-scientist and people doing discoveries, in observing very remote things by collecting visible electromagnetic kind of radiations or light. The very first known telescopes to be invented were in the Netherlands. This was early in the 17th century, and the instrument was able to bring closer distant objects using glass lenses. Concerning its ultimate significance in that era, these instruments were very useful when it came to matter s astronomy and other terrestrial applications. They were used to observe far objects while mounted on raised surfaces (Florian 16). After very few decades, these kinds of telescope become obsolete and the reflecting ones were invented. Another artifact that had great impact on society was the microscope. This instrument was basically used to view very tinny objects which one could not be able to see with the naked eye. This instrument was very important because it made it possible for disciplines like microscopy. This meant that scientist could now manage to view very minute objects like bacteria and virus and have a better understanding of them (Rivera 23). There exist quite a number of them now, the very common- and first to ever be invented was called the optical microscope. This one used to bring to focus an image. With time other varieties came to existence like the electron microscope. The person who invented the first original microscope is yet to be identified. The very early ones were seen in Middelburg, in the Netherlands. Its ultimate significance for that era was to aid in observing very small objects for the sake of studying.(  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microscope, Accessed 15th November, 2012).
