A Variety of Hiring Preferences and Demographics, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 321

Essay

The goal of the study is to examine a variety of hiring preferences and demographics, including an examination of the likelihood that individuals with autism will be hired, whether males or females are more likely to be hired, and whether there an interaction between gender and autism for hiring. The answers to these three questions will help us gain an understanding of how companies can improve their human resources. For instance, people with autism have typically have difficulties with social communication, and are thus more prepared to complete independent work. Despite commonly held beliefs about these individuals, they are more able to concentrate on their work than others who do not have autism. In addition, it is important to consider that in terms of gender, males are usually physically stronger than females and can therefore perform better in more physically-oriented jobs.It is important to research this topic because it will help human resource teams gain a greater understanding of how autism status and gender can help the correct individual be assigned to the correct job. This is beneficial because it will improve the efficiency of a workplace, thereby increasing the profit that a company could potentially make.

The hypothesis of our study is that gender and autism will affect hireability and salary for a person, based on the position that is available. Specifically, individuals with autism are less likely to be hired than those without autism. In addition, males will be more likely to be hired than females. There will be an interaction effect, stating that males with autism will be more likely to be hired than females with or without autism.

We used thequaltrics survey system to create our questionnaire, targeted towards human resources managers. The survey aimed to determine which skills would be preferred for a variety of jobs and the demographics of individuals that are typically hired for each position. Then they would be asked to fill out a questionnaire.
