A Vital Piece of Literary History, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 291

Essay

The purpose of writing this essay was to share a vital piece of literary history that focused on writing about women’s equality to men. In her essay, Murray felt that education is what set women apart, and I believe the same logic. Going to school and getting an education are the difference between me and a million others, men and women. Getting my degree and acquiring knowledge is what will help me and other readers elevate to the field that they desire, and be treated as equal to their male counterparts in the workplace.

By completing this assignment I gained a new perspective of women writers during the 18th century, which was polluted with male writers and poets, and women’s voice was often small compared to men. However, hearing a refreshing view of how education is essential, but that women should be subjugated to just the role as the housewife, it helped to change my view of women’s views during that time period.

The difficulty that was faced when writing was trying write in a way that articulated all the ideals that Murray expressed in her essay. Her way of wording her perspective takes a keen eye, and understanding by re-reading in order to gauge her meaning for her thoughts. I enjoyed writing about women equality as it has always been important before the Women Suffrage, and still in the 21st century. I chose to write on Judith Murray’s “On the Equalities of Sexes”. I chose that piece because it was before it is time and offered valid reasoning on women’s roles. Before you read my essay, do know that much time and consideration was made in choosing, and analyzing the works of Judith Murray in order to successfully evaluate what she idealizing.
