About My EH 300 Class, Essay Example

Essay

Introduction

The uniqueness of every class ensures that students get to learn and experience new fundamentals every semester. My experience in EH 300 can be described as quite inimitable. Not only did I learn new knowledge and skills but also enjoyed the well designed structure and instructor’s approach to the course. The effectiveness of the class however was not without limitations, which to a certain extent limited the otherwise perfect milieu.

Overall, I can describe my experience in EH 300 class as very informative. As compared to most classes I have attended, I got to experience a good class ambience which kept me yearning for the next class. The class was well structured and I feel that Mrs. Robinson-Jones is a very good instructor. Each lecture presented an opportunity to learn new things, which the instructor carefully ensured was smooth and easy to comprehend. I contend that a few areas were quite challenging, but that is the nature of education and one must exert more efforts to fully understand all the basics taught in class. Some of these difficult areas needed the instructor’s assistance; yet accessing her was sometimes difficult. This was probably due to her tight schedule, such that she may have been in another class or attending to other students who needed her help as well. Despite this, I worked exceptionally hard to ensure that I obtain good results at the end of the semester.

Through EH 300, I was able to sharpen my presentation skills and I am positive that these will come in handy in my future learning experiences. I had an opportunity to develop my confidence and consequently be in a position to speak out my mind in front of an audience. This is a skill that could prove quite useful during my future career endeavors. My opinion however was that the presentations should have been kept to CM 313. Such a consideration in the future would therefore be worthwhile. Despite all this, I believe that this had nothing to do with the instructor and therefore my rating for her approach to teaching still remains high.

I particularly liked working in groups for the final project. This is because the groups not only helped me to acquire extra knowledge but also boosted my confidence as a team player. One thing in particular however limited the working of the groups. Scheduling difficulties presented a major challenge for the group. It was often hard to get the four of us together due to the differences in schedules. In essence, setting a common time where everybody was available proved to be quite taxing. In my outlook, I believe that more time was needed to complete the group project. The groups’ ability would have been enhanced if more time had been allocated in order to cater for time constraints based on people’s schedules. Better still, this is a problem that the instructor might help through making specific schedules for group work; resembling the class time-table. This way, no one would have an excuse of missing a group meeting due to personal commitments.

Conclusion

To sum up, I would not trade the experience I had in EH 300 with any other class. I feel that the instructor exerted considerable efforts to ensure that the students got the best out of her class. Despite the limitations that may have been present, I have a positive attitude and therefore believe that I got the best knowledge and experience from this class. I would also express my desire for the elimination of the various limitations in order to make future EH 300 classes more fruitful.
