Pages: 1

Words: 376

Essay

ABC Company (ABC) has Acceptable Use Policy regarding internet use including email and text messaging in place to protect company’s intellectual property and sensitive information as well as create an ideal working environment for the employees. We understand the importance of email and communication tools like text messaging to productivity. But we also strive to make sure these technologies are used in a manner that ensures the best interests of the company and its stakeholders including our valued employees.

This policy covers all company equipment used by employees for work-related purposes including computers and cell phones. Under the policy, these productivity tools are to be used for authorized purposes only including limited personal use for as long as recommended guidelines are followed. The company has monitoring and control tools in place to monitor data traffic from and into the organization. It reserves the right to access employees’ work email accounts and other information on computers and company-provided cell phones including private conversations, voice messages, and website history. As such, employees may expect no privacy within company’s premises or when utilizing company-provided equipment whether on or off-premises.

Acceptable Use Policy was developed with the employees’ best interests in mind. Among many benefits, Acceptable Use Policy ensures:

  • Employees utilize their work hours productively
  • Create an environment of fairness in which everyone is evaluated through the same criteria
  • Protect company’s and employees’ private information
  • Minimize the risk of security breach
  • Minimize violation of applicable local, state, and national laws

The activities prohibited under the Acceptable Use Policy include but not limited to:

  • Conduction personal business
  • Engaging in private social activities including social media
  • Unauthorized access to information on company servers
  • Unauthorized manipulation of company data
  • Violation of applicable local, state, and national laws
  • Engaging in malicious activity
  • Sending or accessing inappropriate material
  • Unauthorized use of company’s resources
  • Workplace bullying

This is not an exhaustive list and when in doubt, employees are advised to contact their respective departmental managers who have been specifically trained on the policy specifics. The employees may also reach company hotline anytime at 800-ASK-QUES or access the policy in its entirety on corporate website.

The employee is advised to download the attached notice of confirmation and return it to the HR office after signing it. We thank you for your cooperation and hard work and look forward to many more years of mutually benefit relationship.
