Accountability in the Business World, Essay Example

Pages: 2

Words: 450

Essay

This essay centralizes around the idea on how accountability in the business world is completely subjective. The thesis for such a paper could be summarized as such: “Due to the accountability within a business, all ethical values are compromised when individuals decide not to take it upon themselves to be held accountable.” Probably the individuals who would most strongly disagree with this thesis are those individuals who hold high responsibilities in businesses. These individuals would agree with the exact opposite of what the thesis is stating. A counter-thesis that would most probably be supported by someone who strongly disagreed with the writer’s position would be as such: “Accountability creates a sense of unity within a business, ensuring that all administrative members are able to collaborate and trust each other in strenuous circumstances.”

The introduction of the report deals with the manner in which individuals find a need to not be held accountable for a certain action when something goes wrong. This paragraph also focuses on the exact definition of accountability. Next, the writer talks about how there is a lack of implementation regarding accountability in various businesses. The writer then talks at length about the many kinds of differences between responsibility and accountability, saying how they have no common ground. Next, the writer takes a great interest in Corporate Citizenship. The next few paragraphs, the writer is successfully able to differentiate the differences between Corporate Citizenship and accountability. The writer then talks about how shareholders are usually seen ads the most accountable individuals. Customers are then said to be unaccountable for any actions taken by a certain business, as they have no role on the producer side of things. The writer then does a great job at disproving certain theories that have been embraced throughout the years about accountability.

If I were to be someone who would have a good reason to believe in the counter-thesis, I would immediately say that the whole situation was not based with enough research because of the manner in which a variety of emotions are portrayed throughout the essay. Paragraph by paragraph, it is easy to see that all of the transitions made are smooth and that they were all done with intent, not just because the writer was trying to fill the page with words. I would imagine the writer to be very informational. This writer would also be considered analytical because of the manner in which he or she thinks about things such as: “It seems as if there is no clear or concrete definition for accountability, people adapt the term and use it as they see fit, changing it to benefit themselves and their current situation.” Overall, the paper is a great one.
