Research Paper

Introduction

The Acme Investment Corporation is seeking  to expand its global business strategy and is looking for the services of a bank with global reach that can provide international banking and multi-cash management services.  There are a number of such banks that include the likes of HSBC, Citibank, Bank of America and UBS.  My selection for the global business requirements of Acme would be to select HSBC.  (HSBC Global Resourcing, 2011)

Hsbc world-wide

HSBS has a truly global presence and operates in virtually every country in the world. In particular a strong presence in South America and Asia. (HSBC Global, 2011).  The Bank can facilitate such items as centralizing cash management through its inter-bank network and the ability to establish portals in a wide range of international options.  Commercial banking is also supported by a network of retail banking outlets to facilitate commercial loans in different countries. HSBC has a proactive international investment branch and is able to work at a localised level to facilitate short term investments of surplus cash holdings.  Foreign Exchange services are available at all branches throughout its network  and this includes the ability to handle multi-currency transactions.

Bank of America and Citibank, by comparison offer many of the above services. The edge comes in the strength in depth HSBC offers, particularly in South America and Asia which are two key operational areas.  HSBC Global operations now encompass some 7,500 branches that span 87 countries  world-wide . HSBC also has a portal into China with its strong alliances and business relationships in the emerging economy. (Evans-Pritchard, 2011)
