Acquisition and Integration of Database Systems, Research Paper Example

Pages: 1

Words: 298

Research Paper

Majority of contemporary organizations have developed relational databases that are good storage for data. This forms the bases of data for utility in the organization after it is transformed to a form of data that suits data mining. The applications that are served by these databases contributes significantly in determining the ease or difficult of data transformation. The relational databases are the repositories of data to serve the applications in the organization. Operation systems are responsible for processing the transactions that facilitates the proper functioning in the organization. The nature of data that is available in such systems is usually transient and continues to accumulate in repository. The type of data that is extractible from operation system is considered to be raw due to the fact that it has not been changed, cleansed or transformed in any way (Anhai, Alon & Zachary, 2012). This data therefore may have elements of error that are attributed to the procedures of data entry or applications thus may have some important values missing. The data may also be scattered over a variety of files as well as tables. All the same, this data represents the business status in the most honest status.

This data therefore needs to undergo an integration process that entails data combination. Data acquired from various sources is combined to offer unified outlook of the same data to the viewers. This process has been applicable in diverse areas of science as well as ordinary life. The significance of data integration process is evident in commercial and scientific situations (Anhai, Alon & Zachary, 2012). The ever increasing frequency and volume of data that needs to be shared among users has been a core feature of data integration.
