Adaptability Needs of an Unwed Pregnant Teenager, Research Paper Example

Research Paper

There are many vulnerable and disadvantaged populations in my region, which is associated with the level of poverty in the Miami, Florida area. As a consequence, there is a need to provide these individuals with services to ensure that their right to health can be protected. In particular, adolescents and individuals living in poverty are considered vulnerable and disadvantaged because they are more likely to experience unintended pregnancies and to have this experience contribute to a significant alteration of their lifestyles due to affordability (Yonkers et al., 2014). This often occurs due to a lack of education or control over one’s personal situation, and health care organizations can provide these populations with both resources and information that will help these individuals remain in a better situation.

It is beneficial to provide care to these individuals in need. The infant mortality rate among individuals from these populations is considered to be very high, and these interventions help provide these patients with an enhanced likelihood that their children will be born healthy. In addition, these actions will help protect the health of the mother during the pregnancy and to continue to support the health of both the mother and child following the birth (Maree et al., 2011). Information is a key component in ensuring that a newborn child will be able to grow into a healthy adult.

There are many programs that are available to help these vulnerable members of the population, as a consequence, health standards and statuses are continuing to improve. Overall, it is important for health care professionals and other members of the population to help protect these patients because the health of individual members of a population could potentially impact the health of society as a whole.
