Describe and discuss different administrative, organizational, and leadership styles.
The above styles are intertwined. They fit into each other and are thus commonly found integrated in the running of a school. Leadership is at different levels starting from the students to the school principle who is the overall boss. The various carders in the school have their leaders. The students and the teachers are under the leadership of the principle while the subordinate staff are under the leader of the school administrator. The school eventually is under the principle as the senior most staff who is answerable to the government and the public about the school. The school is then uredr the superintendent who conducts regular supervision on the school and writes a report about the school. Thus the administration of the government over the schools is through the school superintendents. The community and the school are linked through the board of governors. The board of governors sets the agenda and discuss the strategic and long term plans for the school including funding.
Examine the complex nature of diverse school environments and the role that effective communication and human relations play in developing and maintaining a productive teaching and learning environment.
Different schools are founded on different environments and may have different visions and missions. Though similar, most of the school rules and regulations governing student behavior are not always identical. It is therefore imperative that each school develops elaborate strategies to deal with this diversity. Effective communication is one of the strategies of ensuring an enabling learning environment. Effective communication entails communication within (with students, with teachers and with the support staff) and without the school (communication with the parents, the public and the media). This effective communication settles any misunderstandings and other contentious issues that may arise within the school or from the outside environment. A proper chain of command is established, from the student leaders, through the teachers on duty up to the head teacher/school principle so that in case of any incident it is clear who is answerable.
In cases of a disease outbreak, a crime within the school, an incident of juvenile delinquency or kidnap happening, the school administrator should be able to communicate with the parents and inform them of the details of the occurrence and the steps the school is taking to contain the incidence. There should be a receptionist in such cases to receive parents and other members of the public who may show up at the school premises to inquire about the incident and the whereabouts of their children. It is the work of a school leader to set directions, improving people, and designing the school. With good communications, a school leader can help the teachers to foster learning, build a good relationship between the students and their teachers and also improve the level of the students understanding in the classroom. School leaders also ought to have a good relationship with the superintendent. These are those people that supervise a school. A good communication is really needed for the leaders towards these people in order to send make it easy for the two to work together. These supervisors are usually new in some schools hence they need a good corporation between them and the school leaders.
This will also have a big effect on the students and teachers in that school. An example of this is when a school has national examinations. The principal, teachers and the supervisors work together as a team to make sure everything is done in order. Without good communication, the examinations can not be done in time or supervisions can not be offered in the right way hence leading to cases of tailor.
“To achieve international standards in both academic and leadership training.”
for this school to achieve the above vision, we need to work together and concert our efforts. The students will be expected tom come up with ideas and channel them through their captains who shall in turn hand them in to the teacher we shall have chosen to be in chare of this responsibility. The teachers will be expected to give a feedback every week concerning their teaching work and how it could be improved so that any arising issues are tackled as soon as they emerge. Additionally, the administration shall give monthly reports of what they have done, noting any problems encountered and advising on how it can be improved. The whole school shall meet twice every term to review the progress. These measures should help the school keep in the right track towards the achievement of its vision.
Develop a systematic approach to problem analysis and problem solving as considerations is given to both short and long-range solutions for problems.
There are two main types of problems that can occur in the setting of a school in its day to day operations. There are those problems that occur without anticipation and are thus called emergencies. These are problems that no one can fore tell but all should be prepared in case of their occurrence. Then there are problems that occur slowly and are doing to operating method in the school or other factors. Such problems are not emergencies but they should be approached with maturity and all-inlcusiveness and handled in a way to ensure all the parties (the student, the parents, the teachers and the public) are satisfied. The approach to the solution of these problems may be albeit different in the sense that emergencies (accidents) need an immediate temporal solution while awaiting the definitive solution whereas the other problems can be tackled from the root causes. There are various authorities involved in the solutions to problems in the schools. Management of the emergencies in the school chiefly consists in the staff under the principle and the students besides the other support staff. All schools should establish emergency manuals outlining all the steps to be taken in the event of an accident such as power break out or other accidents. When the first aid measures are taken at the onset of the incident, permanent solutions to the primary cause of the emergency should be addressed later. Other problems developing such as poor performance of the students or strained relations between the school and the nearby community should be handled the board of governors of the school which is constituted by the principle and members drawn from among the parents and the community as well as the government. As systematic approach to any problem is for the student to inform the teacher in charge the teacher in charge then assesses the scenario and calls upon any of the support staff who may be directly involved such as the school nurse, the subordinate staff then handed the situation while the teacher goes ahead to inform the head/principle who should then lay on the ground strategies to arrest the situation. Chain of command, proper enforcement of rules and regulations should be adhered to in the schools to ensure proper solution of the problems.
