Adobe Flash Player, Essay Example

The lab I have selected to discuss for this assignment is “Lab 5-1: Using Adobe Flash Player With Mozilla Foxfire”. Although Adobe Flash Player was helpful for allowing me to see graphics on websites, I would avoid using the program because it runs slowly on my particular computer. It is possible that others have systems that are more optimized for graphics, but I purchased my computer specifically so that I could complete school work. Thus, instead of selecting a PC with a good graphic and sound card, I favored one the latest processor and with the most memory. Furthermore, it appears that it is important for the program to remain up-to-date to work well. The need to constantly update a variety of programs often interferes with my ability to use my computer as I need it, so I prefer to use programs with less frequent but more comprehensive updates. On the other hand, this program would be useful to me because a variety of websites require the user to have the Adobe Flash Player installed and updated in order to view videos. While I don’t enjoy the program, I enjoy many websites that make use of the program, so I need to have it downloaded in order to maximize my website viewing experience. Adobe Flash Player has potential benefits to businesses, which are related to a web designers need to captivate his or her audience. Users are typically engaged by videos and using one that is used to present a business’ key information will either encourage the consumer to continue to explore the website or provide them with facts that they will remember for later. A major pitfall of the Adobe Flash Player that I learned when using this program is that it crashes frequently. I would often have to reload the page several times before I was able to get the flash player to work. Again, I thought this was due to my computer’s running requirements. However, after researching the issue on the Firefox help site, I found that this is a frequent problem for Firefox users. Therefore, it is possible that this is just an incompatibility issue between the web browser and flash.
