Advanced Solutions, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 325

Essay

The services provided by advanced practice nurses offer a complex and detailed approach to solving a variety of healthcare issues that impact patients. The primary objective of these services is to facilitate greater efficiency and cost effectiveness within the context of patient care and treatment. Advanced solutions are critical to the success of different healthcare environments and support a dynamic in which healthcare practices are responsible and are appropriate in meeting the needs of patients. At the same time, these practices must incorporate cost containment strategies that will have a positive and lasting impact on outcomes for many patients. Most importantly, these tools demonstrate the ability to provide primary care services at a lower cost than those provided by physicians in many locations (American Nurses Association). For example, nurse practitioners are trained to provide many of the same primary care services in a high quality manner, but at a lower cost; therefore, these opportunities are instrumental in supporting the benefits of advanced practice nursing for many healthcare communities (American Nurses Association).

Advanced practice nursing roles have continued to evolve and to revolutionize the healthcare industry in many ways because there are significant opportunities associated with supporting the work that APNs perform within primary care and specialty settings (Joel, 2013). APNs are capable of providing cost-effective models that contrast some of the current higher-cost models of healthcare organizations; therefore, these options must be taken into consideration as a viable and practical means of addressing the demand for high quality care and treatment that also supports improved health for many patients. The need for these services continues to grow and to improve the efforts made by healthcare providers to support effective outcomes for their patients in many areas of the practice environment, including primary care and also in specialized areas.
