Advice You Would Give to Students New to High School, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 296

Essay

High school is all about experiencing new things. For some, high school is a time to grow and develop into the individual that they will be for the rest of their lives. On the other hand, high school is extremely difficult for others. Whatever the case might be, it is always important to keep these tips in mind when going through difficult times in high school.

First and foremost, understand that you should have an open mind towards meeting new people once in high school. You might feel like a small fish in a big pond if you are coming from a small middle school where you saw familiar faces everyday, but do not worry, these new people will soon be your best friends for life. Not only that, but do not worry if you do not make great friends the first week; everyone is just as new to the experience as you as so do not be afraid to be the first to introduce oneself.

On academics, be sure to not put everything off until the last minute. Doing so could affect your grade for the rest of the year because some assignments are worth more than others. Do not be afraid to ask for help when needed. Teachers and friends are, for the most part, more than willing to help you out if you are struggling in a subject.

My last advice for you is to enter high school with a willingness to learn. Always be inquisitive about certain subjects and explore new territory when given the opportunity. Not only that, but be sure to engage in community service so that you can impress college admissions officers once you are a senior applying to college.
