Industrialization is regarded as the period in 18th and 19th century where industries became dominant over the agrarian societies. The Europeans advanced in both scientific and technological fields. This industrialization gave the Europeans the ability to navigate and conquer the world. Britain became particularly the first country to industrialize due to strategic factors. Coal was in large deposits giving them an opportunity to industrialize. Britain would assemble its profits and use those resources to develop its technology. They would establish their rule in those colonies they acquired.
Industrialization enabled the Europeans to conquer and colonize the native societies. They also developed other intentions in the course of industrialization such as the desire to spread religion to the other societies. The missionaries saw the need to spread their beliefs and moral values and educate people on their culture. The Europeans were also politically motivated in their desire to acquire power, to establish more territories and national pride. They became economically motivated where they developed the purpose of making more money. They also wanted to have a wide market to sell their products and get raw materials and labor for their industries. They had the need to control and expand the foreign trade. Industrialization enabled the Europeans to navigate new territories, to handle researches for medical purposes.
Industrialization resulted to imperialism after Europeans developed the urge to sustain and expand the industries exceeded the limits, to get the raw materials for their industries back in their countries thus encouraging technology. This technology ensured that they made better weapons, which they used in acquiring land among the native societies. Mostly, the British managed to take charge of different regions where they made them their colonies for supply of raw materials. Industrial revolution resulted to invention of new things. Imperialism was one of the new inventions in 18th century where power existed from one party and controlled the weaker party. The British used their new and advanced technology like their ships to acquire new lands. Guns and machines invented during industrialization enabled armies of different countries to conquer new lands and establish their rule, with that imperialism was born.
The European armies were effective and were able overshadow the natives resistance at all aspects. The British army’s for example, had superior technology, which included military and navigation equipment. The army had steam-powered ships, machine guns, rifles, coal-powered train locomotives. The natives were unable to put up any reasonable resistance since they lacked equipment that could match those for Europeans. Britain had technological advantage over the natives, when they matched up with marine power and industrial strength they had an edge over the natives in the native’s guerilla warfare.
The Europeans had their maritime and technological superiority over the natives, which served as an advantage to them. Industrialization facilitated imperialism due to technological advancement. This ensured that advanced weapons and powerful warships were made in order to assist in conquering the native societies.
In conclusion, industrialization opened doors to the European nations, and made them superior in a number of areas. Particularly, they managed to take the advantage of less industrialized societies, and colonized them, besides seizing their valuable minerals. Owing to industrialization, the European nations decided to ambush third world countries, in search of raw materials. In the same vein, industrialization led to military and technological advancement.
