The subject of age requirement in the law enforcement sector is very important to ensure that the entity employee’s individuals are old enough to partake the duties that are important for effective service delivery.  The sector should recruit people who are mature, intelligent, have good emotional suitability and reliability. The element of age enables the law enforcement sector to ensure that its recruitment process does not go against the provisions of the labors. It is however important to note that the exercise should not tolerate age discrimination where the various roles may specify given age limits (Peak, 2010).

The sector should recruit people in the age bracket of 20- 28 years at the entry level and this should form part of the work. The stated age bracket is the most preferred age for most law enforcement of agencies as this ensures that the organization recruits highly active members of the society that are very productive and therefore can deliver effective results. It is universally assumed that individuals in the above stated age group are younger adults who show great sense of maturity and have the basic general knowledge on the issues in the environment (Peak, 2010).

The law enforcement sector should only recruit individuals who are in the age bracket of 35-40 when they are seeking for professional or experts to perform certain special duties.  Recruitment to such jobs require a lot experience, knowledge and skills that are needed to handle duties that of expertise in nature. The retirement age for the people in the law enforcement sector should be 55 as this marks the age where individuals show a decline the level of productivity.
