Essay

China’s air traffic control operates inefficiently as opposed to the United States. As a state controlled agency it needs much help from the aviation industry in updating its seriously outdated system from the impending growth in the air traffic. The documents from the website give information on how air traffic control operates in Hong Kong, China. With the increase in air traffic the problems it can lead to flight delays, and other major concerns. These increase in air traffic are posed to cause an increase in 20 percent in flight delays by 2020, unless plans are put in place to modernize the current system. China’s trains their air traffic controllers through multiple programs and steps that include, overseas flying training on a single-engine light plane, course training that covers aviation laws, telecommunications, procedures, navigation, and other knowledgeable information.

In order to first get into the program they must meet the requirements of Student Air Traffic Control Officer. Like regular school, they must passes several subjects, language, aviation studies, communicate effectively in English, medically fit (physically and mentally), and pass the selection process. China’s flight delays are major problem especially since the country has one the largest eastern hubs, which has been exacerbated by the rapid growth in China’s domestic air services. Training from knowledgeable operations is essential in their air hubs performing at optimum peak. This information does a good job outlining the requirements and specifics needed to become an air traffic control officer in Hong Kong, as well as knowing the correct requirements and training needed. In knowing this information the FAA as well as other aviation agencies in China must make priority in making sure that their air traffic controllers and other officers are well trained and prepared to handle the extreme amounts of traffic that will be incoming in the China’s hubs in the near future.
